Work package 2: Identification of opportunities to improve MS preparedness and response to CBRN Incidents (accidental/Intentional)

Objective

The aim of the work package is to identify needs of EU MS First Responders, Incident Command Centres and other relevant MS relevant parties at local, regional or national levels regarding CBRN events and its possible follow-up. These needs could be fulfilled by ECCOFEX and may include:

  • unique cross-border dispersion modelling for radioactive plumes
  • unique cross-border dispersion modelling for chemical agents’ releases (both TIC and CWA)
  • unique cross-border dispersion modelling for biological agents’ releases (natural outbreaks and biological warfare)
  • single point of contact for the provision of antidota across the EU
  • single point of contact for the provision of antibiotics and antiviral substances across the EU
  • single point of contact for the provision of sequestering agents across the EU
  • link to CBRN units within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (CBRN-DET, SAR-CBRN, …)
  • improvement of EU link to IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre
  • Liaison with RAPEX, RASFF, ECURIE, ECDC, EuroTox, EAPCCT, CEFIC
  • 24/7 hotline providing information on CBRN substances
  • 24/7 CBRN support for Union Civil Protection Mechanism CBRN Units
